Book of the Week: Stay tuned...

It’s a really strange confession I have to make. I don’t think I finished a single book I picked up last week. My bookmark is in Randy Wayne White’s EVERGLADES, and I’m enjoying it a lot, but I just didn’t have a chance to read too much. I read some bits of other books, too. I just couldn’t settle down. I read parts of a couple of Christine Feehan’s books, to revisit a couple of favorite scenes, and I read a bit of Andrew Vachhs’ TWO TRAINS RUNNING -- very dark, as all his books are. Every now and then I go through a period where I can’t settle to one book, and I can only hope this state ends soon.

BLOG

It’s been an exciting, sad, choppy week for me. I had the good fortune to meet some of the buyers for Borders at a dinner in Ann Arbor, where Borders is headquartered. Everyone I met seemed to be intelligent, well-versed in the market, and really enthusiastic and supportive of my work. I flew home, repacked, and drove five hours to a funeral in my hometown. Geri Moody was only 42, and she had nine siblings, so you can imagine the grief in the church; but there was also an outpouring of deep religious faith, lending the service an air of triumph. I was worried about my mother’s getting through the service, but she managed, though we had to skip going to the grave site.

Though I needed to come home, and have a million things to do, it was hard to leave my mother, as always. I had to come home because my husband had to leave on a business trip, and I needed to hold the fort here; so I’m back in my own messy home with a million things to do this week. I’m afraid I have another sad week in store. My middle child leaves for boot camp on Wednesday.

Send some good thoughts my way if you have a spare moment.
